Dear Margy,
Received your letter yesterday & was well to hear from you. How's the house painting coming along? You're really getting ready for opening aren't you.
See here, cousin Margy, what's the idea of staying out all night ? That's a bad habit, you know. And its not good for a puppy little girl like you! Ask your cousin Joe, he'll tell you. He knows from experience. Any you should know by now too. It's bad enough when you have to do it.
Thought for a while I was going to have to work all night tonight, but I put on a little speed & finished early. The reason we are having another inspection tomorrow I didn't know anything about it until late this afternoon. They're going to transfer all general service men into combat outfits for overseas service. So maybe I will be shipping out of here one of these days myself.

There have been a couple of guys sent out from Headquarters. They left under secret orders. It was funny. One day you're working with them & next day they're gone. We had one leave over Sunday. On Saturday he had no idea that he was going to have to take off. They didn't waste much time when they want you transferred out. Oh well, such is the life in the Army.
Was up to Ft. Worth, Texas the other night. Was rainy & foggy, so there wasn't much doing. Well, just dashed off a few lines to Mother, & now I've got to write the girl friend. Tell your Mother & Dad I said "Hi" & not to work too hard! Be good & stay sober! Write when you can.
