Dear Margie,

Received your most welcome letter a few days ago and was very glad to hear from you. How's everyone up your way? And how is the good old Ohio river doing by this time? Guess some places are in pretty bad shape huh? It really is a shame that something can't be done about that situation, but perhaps there will after the war.

Well, we're having a little snow again today for a change. Up until now the weather has been pretty decent. A week ago Sunday it was just like summer so three couples of us went out on a picnic. We had a wonderful time and hope to do it again soon. I sure am thankful that I have my car with me as there are quite a few places of interest to visit. There are just lots and lots of Indian ruins and parks that are not only beautiful but educational as well. Of course, most of them are a little more than walking distance so if it weren't for my car I probably would never see them. Just hope my tires hold out for a while longer.

My little gal bought me a beautiful set of seat covers for the car last week. My others were in pretty sad shape and I really needed them. On the whole, my car is in pretty good shape now that I've all my fenders straightened out again. I had quite a bit of bad luck there for a while. Hope it's all over now.

Well, it won't be long before Easter is here again. This will make my third one away from home. Hope it's the last too! Four of us are planning to attend Easter Dawn services but suppose something will turn up to interfere. Want to make it if possible as I didn't get to attend any of the Lenten Services. Well, once again I'm acting 1st Sergeant. This makes the fourth time now. One of these times I should get the rating to go with it. Keep me pretty busy, but I don't mind as it makes the time go faster.

Take a short break with our 1 minute survey, simple questions that are an enjoyable distraction.

Had a splashing good time last night. About 8 of us decided to paint our Day Room. Did we have a time! But after we got finished it didn't look too awful bad a t that. Can't understand it. It's pretty good sized place so it took most of the evening to do it. but I think the improvement was well worth it.

I haven't heard from Bill lately but Mother has. He's still working live the very devil but is well, except for a cold. They're still having a lot of snow and bad weather but he just has to put up with it, He's doing just about everything. One day he's on guard duty, the next he's out on wire patrol, the next driving a tankl, or amoured car, or truck or something. He's really having a lot of experiences and I hope that some day he'll derive some benefit from them. They're making quite a bit of headway over there and sure hope it won't be too much longer before it's finished. It's over two years now since any of us have seen him, and when we do I don't suppose we'll know him. He says he's gotten taller and put on some more weight so he should be quite a man by now.

Well, guess it's just about time for me to close. Tommie has my car tonight and she should be back pretty soon. We'll probably take a run down to the club for a sandwich and a beer or something, so will sign off for now. Be good and stay sober, and tell your folks I said "Hello". Write when you can, as I'm always glad from you.

Your Cousin
Joe
