Dear Nelli:

I wrote to Mother & Jackie last night, but didn't get a chance to mail them. We were do for a big inspection today and they wouldn't let us in a building even to the mail box. I received two of your letters today and the card from Jackie, did she write it all alone or just a little help.

I am in the latrine writing and taking a bowel movement. The only trouble is some one will push me off before I have time, at least as much time as I used to take. I dropped my pen when I sat down and it writes better than ever

We are leaving tomorrow at 10:00 A.M. and coming back Fri night in Sat morning. The Captain says not to take any writing paper, so you will ot hear from me until we get back.

On the rifle range we have breakfast at 5:45 but the captain says he is going to try and have it at 5:15 or at the latest 5:30. Supper at 6:00 but he is going to put that off until 6:30 Then we clean out rifles by candle light.

Tell mother that I received a letter from Stella this noon which I will answer tonight. I was going to call her tonight but just got off and have been down to the Px for a Soda, Cig and candy. ÿ

One of the boys just cut his thumb on a razor blade. I had to give him First Aid and then take him down to have it fixed up right. We didn' have anything clean it up with except water. I was sorry to hear that everything cost so much, but I had some idea that you didn' realize. This maybe help to you had to ding out I sure had rather ound a little fault once in a while and let it go at that. If you haven' paid Bill Cassidy do so, Paid him with a store check so we will havee a record. keep that application for insurance as no one get anything else. No policy has come. I will try to get the watch mailed as soon as we get back. I have the box and paper all saved up.

The boys are playing poker and I must stop and help them win a little.

Send three or four more dollars put a dollar bill in a letter when you write. Because it is nearly impossible to get a MO cashed. A check is much better. If it is less than $25.00 we can cash it by having an Officer sign it. I will write if I get a chance.

All my love to you & Jackie

Phil

Did you know: The word "inst" was a very commonly used abbreviation for the Latin "instante mense" meaning this month.
