I don't want you to send me any things to eat because I'd rather eat what government gives us. If I should go to eating such victuels it would likely to make me sick. But I tell you it hadn't such a living as you have at home. It is nothing but salt beef, hard bread and cabbe part of the time, boiled ham. One time we did have apple sauce and Bakers bread but that is all we got
