My Dear Mommy

You will be pleased to hear that I did my first solo yesterday and followed it up with a couple more I have just come down from doing an hour now and am writing this by the time office hence the reason for the pencil

It took quite a little while before I went solo by my instructor didnt hurry me and I made sure of what I know before I went up It was a grand feeling the first time up by myself nobody to tell you what to do or correct you the whole plane was yours to do as you liked with I have done about hrs solo now and about hrs dual so am beginning to feel I know a little about flying though I have got a devil of a lot more to learn yet I am going to try and come home next week end all being well I shant be able to come by

of course it will have to be by train and will I fear take a devil of time I dont arrive till about am Saturday morning We get our half term exams some time this week so am pretty busy swatting up what I have done so far which is quite a bit Am just going to get some lunch and then we fly all afternoon Well have had lunch and am just down after doing another hours solo I am going to do a bit more dual a little later in the afternoon

Im afraid you wont get this letter till Tuesday as there is no post here on Sunday and I shant be able to get to the Post Office It is absolutely wonderful weather here I only hope it stays like it It is frightfully hot sitting about on the aerodrome but heavenly in the air Siddal and I had dinner again with our instructor on Friday night and with a very amusing army officer who was doing security police duties which proved to be very interesting

Take a short break with our 1 minute survey, simple questions that are an enjoyable distraction.

Went into Hull on Saturday and saw "On the Night of the Fire" with Diana Wynard and Raphl Richardson Very good acting but very morbid Well I must close now have got some more letters to write and some work to do

Please give my love to Grandma
All my love
