May your kind letter was read today. It found me in usual health with the exception of a very bad head ache which has be bothering me all day. I think it is on account of the hot weather. It is very hot here and has been for the last month. We are also having some showers Seems to be progressing well here and at Richmond it is rather encouraging. It looks as though this civil war would soon come to a close

We have rather a good many wounded since I last wrote you. I think your cousin must be safe as I have enquired after him have here nothern of him. As yet there are some boys of the 34th here. Some are not quite bad. I have not hear from home since you wrote me before I should really like to know the reason. I guess I should have to give them all an answering. Well my time is short I suppose. I guess you are very lonesome without seeing your mother so long but still I should like her to stay until I get home. I shall certainly come home with her

Since I can say I have had my real enjoyment. How is your father's health this summer, I never mind how we will mark the old house that is so still now.
